About the kever
Overlooking the Sea of Galilee, the tomb of Rabbi Meir Baal HaNes (“Rabbi Meir the Miracle Worker”) in Tiberias is one of Israel’s most cherished pilgrimage sites. A great Talmudic sage and student of Rabbi Akiva, Rabbi Meir is revered for his wisdom, compassion, and miraculous deeds. Visitors come throughout the year—especially on his yahrzeit during the Omer period—to pray, light candles, and give charity in his merit, invoking the traditional phrase “Eloka d’Meir aneini” (“God of Meir, answer me”).
