About the kever

Nestled in the scenic hills of Meron in northern Israel, the Kever (tomb) of Rabbi Shimon bar Yochai, also known as Rashbi, is one of the most significant pilgrimage sites in the Jewish world. Rabbi Shimon, a 2nd-century sage and mystic traditionally associated with the authorship of the Zohar, is revered as a central figure in Kabbalah.

The tomb complex features a white-domed structure surrounded by courtyards, study areas, and facilities for prayer and meditation. Every year on Lag BaOmer, hundreds of thousands of visitors gather here to celebrate his hilula (yahrzeit) with singing, dancing, and bonfires that light up the Galilee night.

Open year-round, the site welcomes visitors of all backgrounds seeking spiritual inspiration, prayer, or a glimpse into centuries of Jewish tradition and devotion.
